New York, NY, October 2002 - P.I.C is a New York City band that came to life in a tongue-in-cheek film school documentary about an ignorant, semi-militant rap crew with an incredibly silly stage show. Several actual concerts and a chart-topping album later, P.I.C has managed to evolve into an engaging, genre-busting act of supreme musicianship, performing a truly fascinating mix of hip hop, Latin rhythms, 70s funk, ska and punk -- but they have never abandoned their distinct sense of humor or their provocative on-stage antics.
So it should come as no surprise that Comedy Central has selected P.I.C to be the house band for the long-running comedy showcase, Premium Blend. Starting on Saturday, October 26 at 9pm, you can enjoy P.I.C's notoriously funny and energetic show from the comfort and safety of your own living room as they perform tunes from their wildly successful debut album, hiphopunkfunkmamboska, and from their upcoming record, Sexy Picnic.
And since P.I.C includes four Filipino-Americans, this is an especially momentous occasion for the Asian-American arts. Asians on television are rare enough; Asians on shows not specifically marketed to Asians rarer still. It is no small accomplishment that P.I.C is featured on a mainstream, nationally televised program entering its sixth season.
