You're So Old Street
According to their press releases, "Sexy Picnic" showcases P.I.C's trademark "hiphopunkfunkmamboska". Pretentious, indeed, but don't let this label put you off. Indeed, it is probably possible to spot all these elements to some degree in "Sexy Picnic". However, the majority of tracks provide a jazzed-up, funky style of hip hop, which is both energetic and engaging. What's more, they quote Bernard Shaw to a background of trumpets in "Ghoti" and, if that's not enough to sell the album to anyone, the swinging rhythms and surprisingly catchy chorus of "Nevermore Stories" could easily be a summer hit in the making. With their '50s gangster flat caps (think Bugsy Malone), and their perfectly entangled mix of sounds, there's certainly something about P.I.C that makes them stand out from the crowd. If only they would realise that their real strengths lie in the combination of all the styles they profess to, and not in the everyday hip hop of final track "D.A.R.Y.L (Love Error)".
